The American Diabetes Association recommends the use of ace inhibitors (ACE-I) or angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB) in diabetes patients with certain clinical conditions, such as nephropathy or hypertension. However, these agents are not frequently prescribed to many patients for whom treatment is indicated.
